Pakistan's star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi said on Sunday that he has undergone an appendectomy.

The player took to Twitter to inform his fans about the surgery and said that he is now feeling better.

"Had appendectomy today but feeling better Alhamdulillah. Remember me in your prayers," Shaheen wrote.

Earlier on November 14, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaheen was advised to undergo two weeks of rehabilitation.

The lanky fast bowler landed awkwardly while taking Harry Brook's catch during Sunday's ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 final in Melbourne.

The PCB said on Monday, "A scan carried out on Monday morning before the team's departure for Pakistan confirmed that there were no signs of injury and the knee was likely due to a forced twist of the knee during landing. I was in pain."

PCB Chief Medical Officer Dr Najeebullah Soomro and Australian knee specialist Dr Peter D'Alessandro discussed the scans and were assured that there was no injury. The left-arm pacer is feeling better and is in high spirits,” he added.

The PCB has also said that the left-arm pacer's return to the cricket field will be determined by the medical staff.

Shaheen will undergo a rehabilitation and conditioning program designed to strengthen his knee at the National High Performance Center a few days after his return to Pakistan, the press release added.

"Shaheen's return to international cricket will be subject to successful completion of the champion fast bowler's rehabilitation program and a go-ahead from the medical staff."

It should be noted that Pakistan's next international assignment is a three-match Test series against England on home soil, which will begin on December 1.
